Dr. Madineh Sedigh-Sarvestani joined MPFI as a post-doc in the Fitzpatrick lab in fall of 2017. Her research uses optical imaging and genetic tools to understand the rules of connectivity and how they define de novo computations in the striate and extrastriate cortex of highly visual mammals.
Prior to joining the Fitzpatrick lab, Dr. Sarvestani was a post-doctoral fellow with Dr. Diego Contreras and Dr. Larry Palmer at the University of Pennsylvania. Their research focused on the dynamics of the thalamocortical circuit in the cat visual cortex. Dr. Sarvestani earned her Ph.D. in Neural Engineering at Penn State University with Dr. Bruce Gluckman, where she studied the complex relationship between sleep and seizure dynamics.
